I have a new favorite place--SAVANNAH, GA! It is a long drive, but very much worth it. Ben had a meeting in Savannah right before the boys got out of school. We had never been before, but we absolutely loved it. We stayed in a hotel downtown and walked to all sort of neat things while Ben was in his meetings. The kids were great and really had a good time. They loved stopping at each square and reading about the statue/historical figure that was there. They were very into the pirate history that surrounds this town. I hope Ben has more meetings there in years to come!!

We checked out one of the candy stores where they make taffy and other treats. SL was in Heaven. As you can tell in the picture he was ready to shop as soon as we entered the store-no time to smile for the camera, there is candy in sight!! Lots of candy!!
The water was beautiful and the boys were amazed by all of the huge boats.
Our Little Pirates! Surrender your gold- or your kisses!
We stopped for a quick rest and read a little history in several of the town squares.
Dinner at Mellow Mushroom. Yummy!

More Pirates!

We checked out an old battery. It was very interesting and told even more history about Savannah. The boys enjoyed this too!
We climbed and we climbed and we climbed some more to the top of the Lighthouse. It was a beautiful view and so very, very high! It was a little frightening with all of the wind. I was amazed that we got to go out and walk around the top area without any glass, just a few rails. I held very tight to both boys. This was something very memorable to do with the boys. They climbed all the way up on there own, thank goodness!

The beach was gorgeous, but different than where they are accustomed to playing. The sun was so bright and the wind was blowing so much. SL just kept asking where the white soft sand was and fussing because the sand hurt when the wind blew it against his legs and face. Needless to say, we did not stay all day on the beach! I cannot believe we carried their sunglasses everywhere we went, but the afternoon we go to the beach we forget them at the hotel! Oh well, we did okay without them !
God's Gifts!
The boys tried so hard to build a sand castle, just like we always do at the beach. They were so persistent, Havey more-so than SL. Look at SL's face he was becoming very frustrated, but he was determined. Frustrating or not, we still had fun trying!

Havey stuck with the castle even though Bro and I stopped for a picnic snack on the beach. The castle results were spectacular, or at least we thought so!

Fun in the sun, but we missed playing with daddy!
